How to : Find Art Thieves

Journal Entry: Thu Jan 3, 2013, 12:12 PM
Please :+fav: this journal, so that a lot of people can read it.

I noticed that a lot of people don't know how to search for their photos on the internet, so here is a short tutorial. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about art thieves, but i still think it is important to look out for them.

1. visit Google.com

2. Go to the page of the photo you want to search and click "show image"

3. Copy the Link and paste it into google.

4. This page should open, click "search by image".

5. Now you can browse trough the results.

6. The less results the happier you should be.

EDIT : You can also use websites like : tineye.com and iqdb.com
This was pointed out to me by some people, personally i have no experience with them, but i am sure that they work too. :aww:

People will only collect your art if they like it. Or some robots might steal it, in which case who cares. You still have control over high-quality prints and such of your art. When something is on the web, every who sees it has made a copy of it already. I suggest relax, be happy, and share you art.

Let me tell you one little problem, that's - sadly - appears too - in funsites: the uploaders/admins sometimes does not giving a simple... heck about the creator, it's website/blog/facebook page, and removes it(!); and putting their sites watermark. In other cases, they stole from each other sites, removes the prevoiusly put watermark, and then they their own stylistic watermark! That's sound good, huh? No, I son't think so!

I visited a facebook site, called "képregények.com"; which - hence the name, wich is 'comic' in Hungarian language - gathers a lot of comics, either ragecomis or some better qualified webcomic strips - and then I checked the main site and... oh, my Lord; they did the same thing again! I asked them, why are did that! Did I get a n answer? No. Why would they asnwer for me? Stupid ass likehunter crappy fb pages... -.-

Then, what could do the artist? I would be happy, but not like that way! Thnx for reading this.

Install Search by Google plugin and get the search option in the right click menu, much quicker. Not only for art theft, but also for identified orphaned art etc.
